Diamond Road Cover Reveal

I cannot believe that in a few short days the books will be in my tiny little anxious hands.  It’s ok.  It’s all just new to me.  I’ll adjust.  I sure hope you like it.  Cover Reveal 6

When I started writing the book Diamond Road I wasn’t thinking much about the cover but following the characters as they grew and the storyline developed. It obviously would include a road but what else? As the manuscript neared completion I started seeing the main character of the book walking along a road. I wondered about the things she would contemplate if she were walking it during the various stages of her story.

Conveying all of the emotions through the cover seemed a daunting task. Would it be possible to find an image for purchase that would work? I couldn’t find anything that came close. Finding images of Kansas wheat fields check. Beautiful images, all but none including a model that felt right, concerning the thoughts of this girl, the most important part of the book.

Enter Diane White Vitale of Photography by Di, and a listening ear. We began looking for the perfect road, with wheat, and the right light conditions. She listened, took a lot of test shots, went to locations with me and found the right shots to use in composite. With the assistance of her daughter Carmin Vitale Russ who is the lovely cover model, and trusted college Rico Allende-Goitia created several composite pieces that we studied over and talked about. They did fantastic work and I couldn’t be more pleased with the outcome.

I can’t thank Diane White Vitale enough for her work on this project. You can see the cover image soon at the cover reveal on the Gingerwrotewhat Facebook page. I will share even more images from the shoots soon on my new blog gingerwrotewhat.wordpress.com
